On Wednesday the 29th of May the Year 3/4 students, Mr Jenkins, Mr W and Mrs Dow set off to Yeppoon PCYC for our 2024 camp. For some of our campers, it was their first Monto School Camp. Bus Driver Ann was surprised to receive a cheer as we saw Yeppoon "Hammerbarn" aka Bunnings, and a round of applause as we actually pulled into the PCYC.
The camp was voted as being "amazing", "great" and "awesome" by the campers after they spent their time orienteering, climbing the indoor rock wall and devouring delicious food.
The beach was popular, even though the water was cool, and the hill back to the camp was REALLY steep. However, the activity that received the most votes for "the most amazing thing ever", was outdoor Laser Tag.
Little did the students know that they would be up against Mr "Rambo" Jenkins and Mr "QuickDraw" Woodforth. With these two generals leading their troops, the Laser taggers were almost too exhausted to enjoy more delicious afternoon tea.
On the last morning we packed the bus and headed off to the zoo. One group was lucky enough to the see the Asian Otters being fed, while the other group had a chat with Valkyrie the Wedgetail Eagle's keeper. We had an early pizza lunch and headed for home.
Year 3 and 4 would like to thank Mr J and Mr W for organising a fantastic camp, and Bus Driver Ann who not only drove the bus there and back, but also helped serve the food, hold rock climbing lines, but also went orienteering and toted a laser tag weapon like a pro as well.
