We invite all families to become a part of our learning community, 'ever onwards', and developing Monto State School as a highly respected part of our local community. This is supported by a very active Parents and Citizens Association which works alongside our school team to provide great learning experiences for our students.
Our school delivers the Australian Curriculum, providing high quality educational experiences for our students in an environment which is safe and holds very high expectations for both students and staff. We want our students to be successful people who can function in society as individuals and as productive team members.
Academically, we have strong processes for identifying the needs of individuals and implement intervention programs and high-performance strategies, in conjunction with personal goals in literacy and numeracy in order to assist students to achieve continuous growth at a high standard. Our averaged English and maths data for students achieving A–C is 95%, which is well above the state average. Our school is classed as a high performing school within our region due to our highly skilled teachers and teacher aides.
The facilities at Monto State School ensure we support 21st century learning styles, with modern and creative learning spaces supported by high quality technology. We have touch boards in all classrooms and students have access to laptops and iPads. Monto State School has a new undercover area allowing students to play safely out of the elements.
Extra-curricular activities are a strong feature of our school, students have opportunities to participate in a wide range of activities. These vary from year to year and are organised and run by staff during school breaks. Monto State School is the only primary school in town that offers a very successful instrumental music program, Friday afternoon specialised sport training, extensive learn to swim program, Year 3–6 camp programs and Japanese lessons for Prep to Year 6 students. As a rural school, we work hard to ensure our learning and activities are contextualised and linked to our local area.
At Monto State School, we are mindful of the difficulties families can face due to the rising cost of living. To assist parents to reduce costs, our school and P&C offer the below additional support.
- Funding support for school camps and excursions to reduce the cost to students and families
- Textbooks for all students at no cost to families
- No levies or instrument hire for our instrumental music program
- Facilitating support from local organisations when necessary
- Grant applications to provide free access to our swimming program including transport
We look forward to welcoming you to Monto State School.
