Student leaders are an integral part of Monto State School and varied opportunities exist within the school for students to develop leadership skills and responsibilities.
Captains
School and Sports Captains are Year 6 students elected by pupils of Year 3, 4 and 5 and the school staff. Each year the school elects two School Captains and 2 Sports Captains for each house.
School Captains
Our School Captains take an active role in all aspects of the school community. They must be approachable, reliable, organised and have the confidence to communicate with staff and students and also speak at school events. The School Captains represent students at official functions, speak at school assemblies, help at special events and assist in the running of the Student Council. It is the responsibility of the School Captains to liaise between the Principal and the Student Council.
Sports Captain
Sports Captains play a pivotal role at all sporting events to encourage all students to participate. They are responsible for keeping students enthusiastic during sporting events and lead their house war cries. These students also help out at a number of sporting events held across the school and coordinate some structured games during breaks.
